Jennifer Nagy is active as a professional singer and teacher in the Phoenix metropolitan area. She has taught at Mesa Community College, 1991-2004 and has been a voice teacher at Chandler/Gilbert Community College 1998-present.
Ms. Nagy has had a wide variety of performing experience. Ms. Nagy has been a featured soprano soloist for works such as Handel’s Messiah, the Brahms Requiem, Poulenc’s Gloria, Rutter’s Requiem and Magnificat, and Mozart’s Coronation Mass. She has appeared as a guest artist with the Coeur d’Alene Symphony, the Mesa Symphony, the Phoenix Symphony, the Phoenix Bach Choir, the Sierra Vista Symphony, Flagstaff Symphony, and Chamber Music Plus Southwest. She has made appearances with Arizona Opera since 1999; roles include Barbarina in Le Nozze di Figaro, the Foreign Woman in The Consul, Frasquita in Carmen, and Mrs. Hayes in Susannah. Ms. Nagy has also made appearances with Phoenix Opera since 2007. In the Fall of 2009, she played the role of Micaela in their production of Carmen. Upcoming in Phoenix Opera's 2010-2011 season, she will be performing the role of Pamina in Mozart's Magic Flute.
Ms. Nagy is originally from Fresno, CA and received her Bachelor of Arts in Music with emphases in voice and piano performance from Whitworth College in Spokane, WA. She received her Masters in Vocal Performance from Arizona State University, and has completed some Doctoral course work at the University of Arizona in Tucson. She currently resides in Gilbert, AZ with her husband, Rob and their children, Grace and Clara. Ms. Nagy is a student of Gail Dubinbaum.
